Humanitarian Assistance

PPI supports humanitarian assistance in Pakistan by strengthening local partners and helping organisations coordinate their work. Our approach centres on community connections, fair assistance and accountability to people affected by crises.

Helping local organisations respond with care

When a crisis interrupts daily life, local organisations can help connect people with support. PPI works with Christian organisations and churches to strengthen their humanitarian knowledge and coordination, while emphasising impartiality, neutrality and accountability in the use of resources.

This work includes learning as well as response. Our activities have included humanitarian training and household assistance following floods. Those examples show why both organisational preparation and an understanding of individual circumstances matter when helping people recover.

Learning about quality and accountability

Partner capacity

Local teams need a shared understanding of responsible humanitarian work. A PPI Core Humanitarian Standard training, facilitated by Community World Service Asia, brought church and NGO participants together to learn about the quality and accountability of assistance.

Connecting organisations and information

Coordinated response

PPI supports coordination through partner meetings, response updates and information on who is doing what, where and when. A regional humanitarian network in South Punjab reflects the importance of relationships between organisations during a response.

Responding to different family circumstances

Household recovery

Recovery needs vary from one household to another. In Rang village, a community group connected a household that included people with visual impairments to PPI cash assistance after the 2022 floods. That support contributed to housing repairs and basic needs.
